Presentation Description

Overview - This webinar will offer fresh insights about sex trafficking and will help participants better understand the complexities of commercial sex trafficking and how it is evolving and thriving in the United States.

The webinar will begin with a foundational starting point for equipping and enabling participants to join the fight against sex trafficking and the exploitation of the vulnerable.  After this webinar, you will be able to explain sex trafficking and how it thrives in the United States.  You will also learn how this crime intersects with your profession and life and why you are critical if we are to truly make a difference.  you will understand more clearly how sex trafficking impacts victims and why it is so important that we act early.

As we advance in the webinar, we will focus on the characteristics of buyers, sellers, and victims and the indicators of the illicit sex industry.  By understanding the indicators associated with johns, victims, and traffickers, you will better understand the reality of this crime.  You will be empowered to create an environment in which this criminal enterprise cannot flourish.  By learning about this crime, you are making your community hostile to sex trafficking.  You will help increase the risks, so they outweigh the rewards for the exploiters.  If the risks outweigh the rewards, then the incentive to recruit further victims diminishes and recruiting victims is not longer profitable.  The result is a real reduction in the number of victims forced into the sex trade.
